So far I am quite pleased with this product. My friends, (2 culinary classmates), were so impressed with the product I achieved, they decided they wanted to make their own ice cream.
They bought the under 0 Cuisinart ice cream machines. You do get what you've payed for. Their ice cream came out soup because they thought they could follow what I did. Turns out they have to freeze some container for 24 hours before using it....
WHY? I ordered the BC-50 Commercial. (payed 0 thru Amazon) I can make
a new batch every hour non-stop. No extra steps. It is SOOO simple to
use and maintain this machine. It makes about 1.25 Quarts per batch. I
am experimenting with flavor profiles constantly, so this is perfect for
me as a culinary student.
I will say that the plastic cover lid (ONLY plastic component) has a lip locking into the churning arm. This tiny plastic piece broke off after 3
weeks of regular use. However, I called Cuisinart and they shipped me a replacement lid IMMEDIATELY. They have really great customer service and
the best warranty for parts (3 years), as well as the best warranty for the
motors (5 years). If they made that lid out of metal like the rest of the machine, I believe it would last forever.
I dig it.

I bought the Cuisinart commercial ice cream maker. After reading all the reviews and reading the instructions, I made sherbet. It was the easiest and best sherbet I've ever made and delicious. If you read and follow the instructions, you should have no trouble making the best ice cream you have ever made. My machine was delivered sitting on it's side and I let it sit upright for 24 hours before using as recommended. The only issue I have and it was stated in other reviews, is that the paddle and top are made of plastic, so be careful handling these parts. All in all, I am delighted that I bought this machine.

I read the other reviews and was optimistic. Let me tell you, I tried four times after reading the manual and re-purchasing ingredients and it does not work. It does however make an excellent paper-weight and does stir the ingredients! I had only soup after four attempts-I even chilled the ingredients in freezer first. This is an awful machine that does not work. Now maybe mine was broken in shipping but if it is that sensitive then you do not want to order it-by the way if it is ever tilted on its side or upside down you have to let it sit for over 24 hours before you can use it and I found it on my doorstep on its side despite the "This side up" signs all over it-apparently that is rocket science. I am going back to my messy but functional ice and salt cranker. I can not tell you how disappointed I am.

Like some other people have mentioned, this unit is sort of noisy. However, I don't think it is any noisier that any unit that takes ice and rock salt, and probably just a bit noisier than the one that attaches to my Kitchenaid mixer. This is understandable when you realize that not only does this have a motor for the nasher, but also a full refrigerant system built in.

I feel this is a fair tradeoff for a product that works as easily as this one does. You literally just pour the liquid in the bowl, attach the motor arm assembly on the top and twist the timer knob. About 30-40 minutes later it is done, and all you have to do to make more is rinse off the parts and reassemble.
