Krups 358-70 La Glaciere Ice Cream Maker Reviews By Customers
I've owned this ice cream maker for over 10 years and it's worked great the whole time, except for user errors. I broke the paddle once by trying to sick in a spoon to snatch some ice cream with out turning the machine off first. I ordered a replacement paddle and have not had any problems since. I notice that some reviewers complained that even though the unit is 1.5 quarts instructions only tell you to put in 1 quart of ingredients, that is to allow for the expansion caused the freezing and aeration that result in 1.5 quarts of product. I have never had gel leaking problems, however I always keep the bowl frozen, never use metal utensils and never leave the bowl sit out dirty. After using, I rinse the bowl well with hot tap water, quickly dry it and put it back in the chest freezer and it is ready to use again the next day. I have found that it is important to have the ingredient the right temperature, neither to warm or too cold, right out of the fridge works well. My kids have had some trouble correctly assembling the unit, but careful attention has resolved this problem. It is important to attach the paddle and turn on the unit immediatly after removing it from the freezer or else frost will start to build up and inhibit paddle movement. When I want stiffer ice cream, I leave the stuff sit in the bowl for an extra 15 minutes after turning off the motor and removing the paddle, and hand stir every 5 minutes with a plastic spatula. This unit has made at least 50 excellent batches of ice cream. Check Special Price!
Doesn't get any easier! - Lee - Boston, MA
This machine is SO easy to use. If you follow the recepies that come with this unit you won't go wrong. It might seem strange to heat up the ingredients as you go, but it works. Make sure the mixture is chilled before putting it in the machine to process. Also, put the mixture in some type of pouring device as you add it to the machine or it will go all over. A mixing bowl is not good enough. I leave the bowl that comes with the unit in the freezer all the time so I am always ready to make more ice cream. Processing should take 30-40 minutes. It has never failed me. Clean up is simple. This is a great great product and an excellent value. Have fun!

Bowl leaked gel. - Gift Card - Utah
We followed instructions in the booklet using proper utensils and keeping it clean. I saw a little bubble in the inside of the bowl I thought was something stuck to the side. When I picked at it with my fingernail a gel started to ooze out of the side.

leaks goo, too - Y. Kennedy -
I see that several people have the same problem I do. After only 4 or 5 uses the base/bowl that goes in the freezer has sprung a leak. The leak is not at a seal but rather in the middle of the metal as if the goo has eaten through it. I would highly discourage anyone from purchasing this product.
